NIIS [National Integrated Infrastructure System]
Meshed Transmission Grid | High Speed Rail | High Speed Internet Backbone | Energy Generation
Proposed solution for creating nationwide mesh network for transportation, energy, and internet connectivity
Routes will be centered on major US interstate highways. This is done for the following reasons:
- Established Rights of Way (ROW)
- Minimizing permitting and various reviews
- Minimizing need for eminent domain actions
- The interstate system provides a template for where to go while also allowing areas that aren’t currently served along the way to be incorporated into the system.
Details
When at all possible do not reinvent the wheel. Train sets will be from Japan’s Shinkansen models initially. All components will be standardized modules with as little customization as needed. Rigorous value engineering will be practiced to ensure costs do not balloon, route and destination choice planning will conform to a rigid cost/benefit methodology with cost and debt sharing with all stakeholders, and a sizable portion of the project will be expected to pay for itself with offsetting revenues. Financing will involve well-managed private-public partnerships as well as various city/state/federal partnerships.
